Vienna, Austria — April 27, 2026 – Two major religious events brought together the Filipino Catholic community in Vienna over the weekend, as devotees commemorated the centennial of the canonical coronation of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Manaoag—one of the most beloved Marian devotions in the Philippines.

The celebrations began on Saturday, April 25, with a festive gathering at the Herz Jesu Parish. Organized by the Our Lady of Manaoag Devotees in Vienna in cooperation with the Through Mary to Jesus Devotional Group and Foundation, the event drew a large number of faithful participants.

The program opened with a solemn procession, a hallmark of Filipino Marian spirituality, as devotees carried the image of the Blessed Mother under her revered title, Ina ng Manaoag. This was followed by a Eucharistic celebration honoring the Virgin Mary, presided over in a spirit of thanksgiving and unity. After the Mass, attendees gathered for a communal meal featuring a variety of traditional Filipino dishes, fostering fellowship among participants.

The weekend observances continued on Sunday with a second major event organized by the Filipino Catholic Chaplaincy Vienna and the Association of Pangasinenses in Austria. Highlighting the day was a solemn reenactment of the canonical coronation, commemorating the historic crowning of the image of Our Lady of Manaoag a century ago in the Philippines.

The reenactment vividly brought to life the significance of the 1926 coronation, allowing attendees to reflect on the enduring devotion to the Blessed Mother across generations and continents. A Eucharistic celebration followed, uniting devotees not only from Vienna but also from nearby regions who came to take part in the milestone event.

The weekend concluded with an agape meal, reinforcing the sense of community and shared faith among participants.

Organizers noted that the centennial celebration serves not only as a remembrance of a historic religious event but also as a testament to the vibrant faith and cultural identity of the Filipino diaspora in Austria.
